Our First Book Giveaway!
Thanks to a cancer diagnosis, 2006 was the most horrific year of our lives.
It was also the most extraordinary.
Sometimes it takes a diagnosis as terrifying as brain cancer to help one gain perspective.
Just a year earlier, I had told a friend who was planning her extended hospital stay for a kidney transplant (she was the donor), that I would do anything to help: watch her kids, run errands, cook meals, clean house...Anything other than spend time in the hospital speaking with medical personnel.
One year later, I was my daughter's loudest and strongest advocate, researching every possible aspect of her oncology treatment, as well as every possible adjunct that could protect her from the toxic treatments and give her the best possible chance of a full recovery.
I had no choice but learn how to advocate for my daughter by researching, asking questions, and taking authority over her treatment.
That horrific, extraordinary year gave birth to our book: Walking on the Ceiling: Reflections on Life Turned Upside-Down by Pediatric Cancer.
Part memoir, part resource, my daughter, Laura, and I share our personal struggles and triumphs during her cancer experience, including the holistic strategies that earned her the reputation of being her oncologist's Healthiest Patient.
Subscribe to my website between June 24th and June 29th to enter the drawing to win one of three copies of Walking on the Ceiling: Reflections on Life Turned Upside-Down by Pediatric Cancer.
Winners will be announced here on the blog on June 30th.
Wishing you well,
